Israeli Minister visits ORT Lyceum in Kiev

17 June 2004 Israels Minister of Science and Technology, Eliezer Sandberg, today visited the ORT Technology Lyceum in Kiev within the framework of an official trip to Ukraine. Participants in the school visit included Naomi Ben-Ami, Israels Ambassador in Ukraine; Nikolay Kuchinsky, Director of the Education Department and Vice Chairman of the Kiev Dniprovska District State Administration; Viktor Shuryga, Deputy Director of the Kiev Dniprovska Region Education Department; and Vlad Lerner, World ORT Representative for Ukraine, Moldova and the Baltic States. During a tour of the school Mr. Lerner took the Minister to the science laboratories and described the various science related subjects offered at the ORT Lyceum. Mr. Sandberg was interested to learn about ORTs development of curricula and, in particular, about an e-learning programme. Possessing a particular interest in e-learning Mr. Sandberg commented that, I see great importance in co-operation between ORT and the State of Israel to advance e-learning. Mr. Sandberg joined a Hebrew class and listened to a rendition by students of a medley of Hebrew songs. He congratulated the students on their high standard of Hebrew and told teachers how impressed he was by the level they had reached. The visit ended with a presentation by Mr. Lerner on ORTs activities in the CIS and Baltic States, and the history and future plans of the ORT Technology Lyceum.
