11 January 2002 London-based couple Edgar and Marguerite Quitak were in Netanya recently to inaugurate the Quitak Advanced Projects Laboratories at the ORT Hermelin College of Engineering. The state-of-the-art facilities, funded by the Quitaks, will give those working on their graduate theses the resources to develop their own projects using the most up-to-date technology in an environment that realistically replicates the conditions that they will find in industry and commerce. Edgar Quitak chats with ORT Hermelin Engineering students about their current projects. Edgars own background is in engineering and the couple was eager to support students in this discipline, particularly in a way that encourages innovative thinking and problem solving. With the 1,500 students Hermelin College rapidly becoming one of the principal sources in Israel for highly trained engineers, the Quitak Laboratories will considerably strengthen the countrys vital technological sector. In attendance at the inauguration were the Quitaks and their guests, Chair of British ORTs Womens Division Suzanne Davis, National Director of ORT Israel Haim Ben-Ami, Dr. Moshe Fass, Principal of Hermelin College Dr. Shlomo Tzach and Director General of World ORT Robert Singer. The Quitaks have been members of the British ORT family for many years with Marguerite being a mainstay in the Northwest London group of British ORTs Womens Division.
