Students from the Czech Republic and Mexico have taken part in a successful exchange program thanks to a joint project from Colegio Olamí ORT and the ORT-affiliated Lauder Schools of Prague.
A group of 10 Mexican high school students spent a week in Prague, living with Czech students and their families, learning about their lifestyles, culture and country.
The students took part in joint lessons together at the school, appreciated the historical center of the capital city, as well as the country’s beautiful architecture. They also visited the Terezin Holocaust camp and took part in sessions to learn about the rich history of the Czech Jewish community and its culture over the centuries.
Mark, one of the Mexican ORT students, said: “My experience was wonderful; I was able to visit an amazing place, learn about the local culture and much more. It was unforgettable.”
Czech participant Galia added: “I met many people with whom I created an incredible relationship.”
The trip was the first step in a new partnership between the schools. They are already planning for students to travel from Prague to Mexico City in November, to replicate the exchange experience. Both schools plan to continue the project next year with new groups of students.
