Born in Ramat Gan, Israel, to a family of Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Israel from Poland, Dov Moran obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (with honors) at the Technion before serving in the Israeli Navy for seven years, becoming commander of its advanced microprocessor department.
Moran formed M-Systems which invented the USB flash drive (DiskOnKey) and the FlashDisk (DiskOnChip). In 2006 M-Systems was acquired by SanDisk Corp for $1.6 billion. He then founded Modu, which sold its patents to Google in 2011, and was chairman of Tower Semiconductor, a developer and manufacturer of semiconductors and integrated circuits, and of Biomas, a developer of pharmaceuticals.
Moran has won several entrepreneurial awards, including Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” and IMC’s “CEO of the Year”.
He mentors Israeli entrepreneurs, he lectures extensively in universities and schools and sits on the advisory board of Tel Aviv University Momentum Fund. He is an active member of the Korean Israel Business Forum. He is married with four children.
