ORT South Africa is an accredited, award-winning non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering individuals and communities across South Africa.

Based in Johannesburg, its mission is to make people employable through first-class training in mathematics, science, technology, and work readiness, while also creating employment opportunities through business skills training and mentorship.

ORT SA, which was founded in 1936, operates through several academies: the STEM Academy, the Skills and Enterprise Development Academy, the IT Academy, and ORT Jet – a division that supports businesses through a unique development program.

The organization has successfully trained and empowered thousands of South Africans in critical areas such as business development, cutting-edge teacher training, skills development, work readiness programs, and basic computer literacy.

Through leadership, innovation, and positive intent, ORT SA strives to create a society in which individuals can become contributing members, driving both personal and economic growth.

King David Schools – South Africa’s leading Jewish schools – are one of the world’s most well-respected Jewish institutions. They were established in 1948 and have been affiliated with ORT since 2018. They benefit from world-class education courses and activities as well as having the opportunity to share resources and know-how with other ORT members.

They achieve top-level exam results and have a philosophy of nurturing school leavers to produce “a mensch with self-respect and respect for others”.

In Cape Town, ORT SA Cape works to ensure all children, regardless of background, receive the quality education they deserve. It supports educators with training and resources, equipping them with the skills and confidence to innovate and inspire, while also supporting more than 1,000 unemployed youth through qualifications and internships.

It also runs its own flagship JET program, which provides mentorship, workshops, and networking opportunities to entrepreneurs, giving them the tools and motivation to thrive and contribute to their communities and economies.
