Since 2005, ORT has partnered with the Lauder School of Prague, the ethos of which is to establish a warm and communal atmosphere.

The school – which is oversubscribed – treats each of its 350-plus students, who are of preschool to high school age, as individuals. It is a partner school to a Cambridge English testing center in Prague and pursues the goal of high academic performance while also catering to children who have additional needs.

Students take part in World ORT programs focused on STEM subjects and students and teachers also attend World ORT teacher training seminars and student summer schools, where they learn additional skills and meet peers from across ORT’s global network.

ORT began activities in what was then Czechoslovakia in 1947. In the two years before being closed down by the authorities, ORT had trained 650 students in 32 courses.

The organization returned to the Czech Republic in 1996, establishing a computer laboratory in partnership with the Education and Culture Center of the Jewish Museum in Prague. The Lauder School of Prague was founded the following year.
