ORT Ukraine supports more than 7,000 students across five ORT schools, two ORT-affiliated schools, and eight non-Jewish institutions around the country.

ORT Ukraine supports more than 7,000 students spread across five ORT schools and two ORT-affiliated schools, in Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Bila Tserkva, and Dnipro, and eight non-Jewish institutions in the Kyiv region.

The organization has made a major impact on the quality of its Jewish schools in the country and on the Jewish communities in which those schools are located, providing Jewish people with excellence in education for all ages from preschool to the elderly.

Courses developed by ORT Ukraine’s RND facility are officially recognized and approved by the country’s Ministry of Education. These include online courses, webinars, and online educational platforms.

Since February 2022 and the start of the conflict, ORT Ukraine and World ORT – with the help of supporters worldwide – have offered extensive support and assistance to students, educators, and their families in order for them to continue their education.

Additionally, countless professionals and volunteers have worked tirelessly to provide wide-ranging support including logistical, humanitarian, and financial aid. Despite the war, ORT Ukraine’s commitment to maintaining educational excellence remains steadfast.

ORT had been excluded from Ukraine for much of the Soviet era, returning to the country only in the early 1990s. In August 2000, ORT and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine signed a memorandum to formalize co-operation in the fields of general, elementary, and secondary professional education. The first ORT school opened in Kyiv shortly after this.

ORT has previously operated KesherNet centers, predominantly supporting unemployed women into employment, as well as an education center in Kyiv and a technology center in Dnipro.
