The ORT Tallinn Jewish School, originally established in 1924, now caters to more than 370 students.

The Jewish day school re-opened in 1990 and joined the ORT network in 2008. Its students enjoy a high quality education, the general syllabus complemented by a comprehensive Jewish Studies program and a range of ICT courses, from basic computer literacy to 3D modelling.

It is a vital component in the 2,000-strong Jewish community’s regeneration since Nazi Germany declared the country Judenfrei (“free of Jews”) in 1942. After the war, Russian-speaking Jews from the Soviet Union settled in the country together with some of the 4,500 Estonian Jews who had fled the Nazi invasion.
