Colegio Olamí ORT’s Imagine Lab: ‘At the Forefront of Educational Innovation’

17.09.2025

Students at Colegio Olamí ORT in Mexico are benefiting from the creation of an immersive learning space that transports them straight into Leonardo da Vinci’s workshop or allows them to view, from up close, the inner workings of the human body.

This is the school’s Imagine Lab, which was inaugurated in May after six months of building work, and educators have already begun integrating it into the school’s programs.

The learning space – which was entirely funded by generous donors Rolando and Sara Uziel – will support project-based learning subjects such as art and Jewish history and will be used by children in the kindergarten through to those in the 12th grade.

Orly Picker, the academic director at Olami, explained: “It is designed as an immersive and interactive learning environment that is transforming the way our students and teachers experience education.

“Its walls are touch-sensitive, turning the entire room into a dynamic space, where students collaborate on projects that make learning engaging, curious, and innovative.”

The school’s teachers are being trained in the effective use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to enrich the learning process. This training focuses on the design of educational materials specifically created for projection and interaction in the Lab.

“Through this integration of AI, students are experiencing hands-on opportunities to explore and deepen their understanding of diverse project topics, making learning more meaningful and interactive.”

At the same time, the school’s Jewish Studies teachers are developing new ways to design meaningful learning experiences related to Israel and Judaism.

“This initiative is already transforming classroom dynamics by combining active methodologies with AI and fostering an innovative, competency-based learning environment,” added Ms. Picker. “In doing so, we are enhancing students’ creativity and preparing them with the essential skills they need to thrive in the future.”

She added that the Imagine Lab was also a space of connection with the wider community. Educators have presented interactive activities to parents and to external visitors interested in understanding how AI, technology, and academic interdisciplinarity can be brought together effectively.

“These experiences showcase how the Lab not only enriches student learning but also positions our school at the forefront of educational innovation.”

Speaking at the time of the Lab’s inauguration, Avi Meir, Colegio Olamí ORT’s CEO and General Director, said: “The Imagine Lab is more than a classroom – it’s a sensory journey. Here, students learn by feeling, seeing, hearing, and doing. Each experience leaves a lasting memory, turning knowledge into something they live, not just learn. It’s a place where imagination shapes understanding.

“The Imagine Lab will revolutionize the way our students learn. It will allow them to imagine and dream – about the past and the future.”
