Our World ORT Mensch of the Month is Mirav Shynes, Deputy Chief of Pedagogy and R&D for Content, Learning, and Knowledge, leading World ORT Kadima Mada work in the areas of teaching and learning content, knowledge management, and the development, organization, improvement, and accessibility of pedagogical materials.

Mirav lives in Kibbutz Afik in the Golan Heights. For the past eight years, she has worked at World ORT Kadima Mada, where she has led a wide range of technological education initiatives across northern Israel in both formal and non-formal educational settings.

She continues to coordinate STEAM courses and activities within the Eastern Galilee cluster, as well as oversee unique programs, including STEM Golan, annual courses, summer camps, and special peak-day events.

Mirav is a certified science teacher and a graduate of the Hebrew University, where she studied Atmospheric Sciences and Environmental Studies. She also holds a Master’s degree in Technologies and Curricula in Education from the Open University.

Born in Petah Tikva, she relocated with her family to the Golan Heights in 2014. She is married to Itay, a water engineer, and is the mother of two sons: Noam, an 18-year-old high school student, and Eyal, who tragically fell during his military service in Gaza in June 2024, at the age of 19.

Eyal served as a combat soldier in Battalion 931 of the Nahal Brigade and lost his life defending his country. While the war did not directly affect their region, the family endured a profound and immeasurable personal loss.
