ORT is a global education network driven by Jewish values. In a highly competitive world, we aim to ensure our 84,000 students in 47 schools, universities, and vocational training programs have the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life and contribute positively to the wider society.
Our name stands for the Organisation for Rehabilitation through Training, and we were founded in 1880 to further the employability of Russian Jews, teaching them essential trades and professions. We have since evolved to provide 21st century skills that empower people and strengthen communities and Jewish life worldwide.
Our network now reaches more than 350,000 people a year in more than 40 countries. We transform the lives of young people, and their educators, through pedagogy and training. ORT focuses on providing high-level Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) education and training for both students and educators.
We also hold emergency appeals to fundraise for our educational communities and partner organizations in Ukraine and Israel, helping students, teachers, and their families. We raise funds for immediate humanitarian needs, including food, water, medical supplies, and transportation for potential evacuation and relocation.
Being part of the ORT network is about being part of something bigger than oneself or one’s own institution or community. It creates a sense of belonging with shared values, where we can all learn from each other’s passion and perspective. People forge friendships and working relationships across borders and see the value of sharing best practice. We are truly an ‘ORT family’. Please join us.
“Being part of the World ORT network is a privilege and a profound source of inspiration. It embodies a commitment to educational excellence and the collective advancement of communities through shared knowledge and collaboration,” Windclaire Mendez, educator, 2024 Hatter Technology Seminar attendee
